Ruby Mae Shelley, 48, of Memphis, MO, died February 4, 2004, in her home with her family.

Ruby was born May 2, 1955, at Davenport, IA, to Donald E. and Barbara Mae Wilsey McCombs.

She was a graduate of Wyaconda High School, Wyaconda, MO.

On March 23, 1979, she was united in marriage to Steven Ray Shelley at Memphis, MO.

Ruby was known as a very caring person, always looking out for others. She had worked at the National Garment Factory in Memphis. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of Wallace W. Gillespie Post 4958 VFW in Memphis, MO.

Those surviving to continue her memory include her husband, Steven Shelley; son, Brian Michael and wife, Kim Shelley, stationed with the U.S. Navy; two grandchildren, Julie Hall and Stephanie Hall and a step-granddaughter, Clara Nicole Sanchez; her mother, Barbara Hooper of Quincy, IL; a sister, Penny Thompson and husband, George of Quincy, IL; a brother, Marvin McCombs and wife, Barbara of Kahoka, MO; four step-brothers, Jackie Hooper and wife, Mary of Kahoka, MO, Larry Hooper and wife, Diane of Wyaconda, MO, Jimmy Hooper of Wyaconda, MO, and Billy Hooper of Kahoka, MO. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Wanda Shannon and husband, Skip of Memphis, MO and Patricia Durst and husband, Ronald of Ottumwa, IA; and three brothers-in-law, Danny Shelley and wife, Patricia of Fort Worth, TX, Perry Shelley of Shelbina, MO, and Alan Shelley of Ottumwa, IA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald E. McCombs.

Graveside memorial services were held February 7, 2004, at the Richland Cemetery. Chaplain Norm Snowbarger officiated. As an expression of sympathy memorials may be given for the Richland Cemetery. They may be left at or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, MO. Memphis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
