MoDOT Announces Routes in Scotland and Clark Counties To Be Resurfaced
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded a project to resurface a total of 25.1 miles of highway in Scotland and Clark counties. Bross Construction Company of Hannibal, was the successful bidder on the project at $780,466.60.
Route 15 in Scotland County will be resurfaced from the Iowa state line south to Route 136 in Memphis.
The project will consist of a one-inch overlay of hot mix.
ďThis is a basic maintenance overlay,Ē said Macey Rodenbaugh of MoDOTís Hannibal office. ďThe project will improve the smoothness of the driving surface, and lengthen the life expectancy of the existing roadway.Ē
Route 81 in Clark County also will be resurfaced from the Iowa state line south to Route EE in Kahoka.
Work is expected to begin after April 1 and be completed by next fall. Traffic will be reduced to one lane during these operations, and motorists are urged to use caution in and around the work zone.
ďThese are relatively small projects for the construction companies so the contract allows them a window for completion instead of an iron clad date,Ē Rodenbaugh said. ďThey can begin in April, as soon as temperatures are warm enough to work with the hot mix. They have until October, when temperatures become too cool for the materials, to complete the project.Ē
