Jessica Erwin Crowned New Miss Northeast Missouri
The 16th annual Miss Northeast Missouri scholarship pageant was held November 19th at the Clark County middle school in Kahoka Eight young ladies from the area competed for the title of Miss Northeast Missouri. Jessica Erwin of Memphis, was crowned the new Miss Northeast Missouri 2005. She is the daughter of Lon and Saralyn Erwin. Jessica is a senior at Scotland County R-I High School and hopes to spread the joy of music to all. Erwin performed a vocal solo for her talent presentation. As she embarks on her journey as Miss NEMO 2005, Jessica hopes to continue performing and help area children see the light of what music can do for them.
Runners-up in the scholarship pageant include Elizabeth Davis for 1st runner-up and Charlotte Bullerd 2nd runner-up.
Extra performances were made throughout the evening by former Miss Clark County 2004 Jessie Cotton.
“She represented our communities well and her steps will be hard to follow,” said pageant director Davin Acklie.
Masters of Ceremonies for the evening’s events were Rick Fischer of Memphis and Dr. Brigitte Cormier of Kahoka.
Other awards given throughout the evening included two $100 cash scholarships presented by the Kahoka Kiwanis Club. Recipients were Charlotte Bullerd and Abigail Scott. The Miss Congeniality award was given to Amee Sutterfield, as voted on by her fellow contestants.
“It has been a wonderful year for the contestants, they will take away many new friendships, along with confidence,” said Acklie, who marked her final year as the director.
