Cigarette Blamed For Porch Fire on Jefferson Street
The Memphis Fire Department responded to a report of a porch fire at 352 E. Jefferson Street in Memphis at 8:02 p.m. August 15.
The property owner indicated a cigarette had been partially extinguished in a planter on the porch but apparently had rekindled and caught the southeast corner of the porch on fire.
The blaze was quickly brought under control with minimal damage to the corner of the porch. The fire department was on the scene for approximately one hour, examining the porch, roof and connections to the house to assure the blaze was fully extinguished.
