Marshall To Give Concert to Benefit Bible Grove School

Every cause needs a good voice to spread the word. The Bible Grove Historical Preservation Committee will put just such a voice to work on August 20th when local singer Sarah Marshall will give a benefit concert for the organization at the Memphis Theatre.

The gospel performance will get underway at 7:00 p.m. It is a free-will offering for spectators with all proceeds going to help restore the old Bible Grove school.

Sarah Leanne Marshall was born in Bermuda and moved to North Carolina at age 2 , at age 5 moved back to Bermuda, and moved to Missouri at age 12.

She started singing at the age of three when she performed at the Tryon, NC, Seventh Day Adventist Church. She sang at least monthly and enjoyed listening to the piano.

At age four Sarah started playing piano and by her fifth birthday she could play recognized tunes. She played for two years by ear before taking lessons.

She began honing her skills at age seven when she took her first piano lessons. The next year she began receiving vocal instruction as well.

There are 8 churches in Bermuda and Sarah has performed in all of them during her singing career.

Sarah is now 16 and she loves singing and playing the piano. She was a junior soprano soloist for a Christmas Cantata in 1999 at the Hamilton S.D.A. Church in Bermuda She also has sung for a fundraiser for a cancer patient and church member in Bermuda, on a Cerebral Palsy Pulse telethon in 2001 in Kirksville, and Thanksgiving 2003, with the Truman University Choir at Baldwin Hall.

In May of 2004 she entered a talent contest at Sunny Dale Academy and won a $100 dollar first prize and a $300 scholarship in music.

Marshall is the pianist for the Lewistown Seventh Day Adventist Church and almost weekly sings special music. She plays all the music at the rest home when her family and church do programs in Memphis and Lewistown.

She and her family did a gospel concert last year for the Bible Grove Preservation Days.

Sarah is a home school student and does her study from A Beka Academy of Florida. She is in her sophomore year.

Sarahs parents are Terry and Kathy Marshall and she has a brother Terrence.
