Police Arrest Teenagers On Stealing Charges
Four local teenagers and one juvenile were arrested by the Memphis Police Department on June 2 following the recovery of stolen property.
Shawn A. Glidewell, 18 and Zachary C. Moffett, 19, both of Memphis, were arrested by officers from the police department and Scotland County Sheriff’s Department on June 2 after a caller had reported a burglary in progress at a residence on North Main Street in Memphis.
The two teenagers were apprehended at the scene and were taken into custody.
The investigation into the burglary generated numerous additional leads. Officers located several other stolen items, including an electric meter owned by the City of Memphis, at a residence in Granger. The expanded investigation led to the arrest of Casey Miller, 17, of Granger, Derick Hortsmeyer, 18, of Memphis and one juvenile.
Glidewell is being housed in the Scotland County Jail on a felony no-bond warrant for military desertion from the United States Army.
On June 3, after he had been questioned in the sheriff’s department, Glidewell attempted to escape from incarceration. He ran from the jailer and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended east of the city square.
Glidewell is now facing charges for the class D felonies of resisting arrest and escape from confinement stemming from the June 3 incident.
Charges are pending in the burglary investigation and regarding the stolen property.
