Theatre To End Season With ‘The Passion of The Christ’
The Memphis Community Players are coming to the end of the season of “going to the movies”. This week the theatre will present a Warner Brothers production Scooby Doo 2. Then to close the 2003-04 season the group has booked the movie that has brought lots of comments and questions. The theatre will show The Passion of The Christ.
“Our board discussed, last week, if we’d present to our community the first R-Rated movie since we opened 10 years ago,” said Community Players member Dr. Harlo Doneslon. “The decision was that we would show the movie, but, yes there are some buts.”
For the special showing, the theatre group stated it will be necessary to raise ticket prices for this movie to $5.00. (No movie passes will be accepted for this movie). The group also decided that a 17-year age restriction will be enforced.
“So please – Moms and Dads do not bring a child under the age of 17 and expect them to be allowed in the theatre,” Donelson said. “This age restriction will be enforced.”
As the movie season winds down the Community Players expressed their appreciation to everyone who helped with the productions and movies this year.
“All the time, all the concerns of community, the folks who have given hours to help keep the theatre going – we appreciate everyone,” Donelson stated. “We hope to see you in the next couple of weeks as we close another season at the movies.”
