City To Give Trees For Right Of Ways
The City of Memphis is giving away trees again this year to be planted on right of ways. The project, which started several years ago, has been successful in replacing many older trees that were removed due to old age or disease.
Tree sizes are normally about four-six feet tall and varieties are determined by the Tree Ordinance for Memphis. Most often, property owners have a preference of variety and the trees are planted where property owners have expressed an interest in helping with their survival. The trees are planted by city personnel and are available on a first come first serve basis.
