Chamber Gets Approval For Art & Wine Festival
The Memphis City Council approved the MACC request to hold the special event on the city square.
The Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) received the green light from the Memphis City Council to proceed with plans for a Art & Wine Festival this summer.
MACC president Chuck Kigar headed a group of members that were present at the meeting. Kigar informed the council the Missouri Department of Agriculture’s Grape and Wine program will sanction the event. Preliminary plans are to have wine and cheese but Kigar pointed out the event would simply be a tasting as there would be no wine for sale on the premises.
The council had taken the MACC request under advisement at the January meeting but returned at the February 5 meeting to unanimously approve the petition to allow the event to be held on the city square.
The festival is scheduled for May 15. In addition to the wine tasting, the day will feature meats and cheeses made by local producers. Other locally made products will be showcased at the event which will also feature work done by local artists and entertainers.
