Brashear Game Worth the Wait For SCR-I Lady Tigers

The SCR-I softball teams trip to Brashear was originally scheduled for August but the season opener was lost to rain. The game was rescheduled for September 29 and proved to be well worth the wait for the Lady Tigers who prevailed 15-1 in six innings in the teams best offensive performance of the year.

Just like the game, SCR-I took a little while to get started. But once the team started rolling in the third inning, it didnt stop.

Ali Fromm started the third inning with a base hit. She scored on a double by Jacqui Drummond. A walk to Jessie Cotton and a base hit by Valerie Crawford loaded the bases. Sara Eggleston drove home the second run with a hit before Rebecca Consbrock worked a bases load walk to make the score 3-0.

The Lady Tigers added four more runs in the fourth frame when all the damage came with two outs. Eggleston and Consbrock recorded base hits before a walk to Brandi Mallett loaded the bases. Becky Miller promptly cleared the base paths with a triple and then scored on a base knock by Fromm to build the lead to 7-0.

Cotton and Crawford both scored on a double by Consbrock in the fifth inning as the advantage swelled to 9-0.

Scotland County closed out the game in the sixth inning by batting around. Miller and Fromm walked to start the inning. Drummonds base hit loaded the bases before Cotton delivered a triple to send all three girls home.

Consbrock and Crawford were each 3-4 on the evening. Eggleston, Mallett, Fromm and Drummond all collected two hits a piece while Miller and Cotton each had three RBI in the game.

All the offense was more than enough for Eggleston who allowed just one run on four hits while striking out a season-high 12 batters.
