Moore Signs To Play Basketball and Golf At Graceland University

Most high school athletes only dream of advancing on to play at the collegiate level. Those fortunate enough to excel at more than one sport most often are forced to choose only one to pursue at the next level.

But former Scotland County R-I standout Chase Moore will be living the best of both worlds at Graceland University this fall.

Moore signed a letter of intent to play basketball and golf for Graceland University in Lamoni, IA, beginning in the fall of 2003.

Moore, a five-foot-eleven-inch guard on the basketball court won All-Conference, All-District and All-Area recognition as part of the SCR-I basketball team and was an All-Conference and All-District golfer.

Chase was also a team captain for the football team and was named to the All-Conference,

All-District and All-Area football teams as a wide receiver and kick return specialist.

"Chase is a remarkable young man with a bright future," says Graceland Basketball Coach Rich Harrop. "His fundamentals are very good and with his competitive spirit, it makes for a good combination. Graceland is

fortunate to have a person with his talent and his leadership qualities on campus for the next four years. The Yellowjackets are looking forward to his contribution."

During his senior year, Chase was the Missouri state winner of the Wendy's High School Heisman Award and serves as the National Honors Society secretary and TATU vice president. Moore also enjoys hunting, fishing and water skiing.

"Chase Moore is an exceptional individual," says Graceland Golf Coach Kevin Brunner. "He will contribute to all aspects of Graceland University. His golf game will challenge our entire team to improve and set higher goals. I look forward to having Chase on the team to provide integrity and excellent golf."

Chase, the son of Rob and Shari Moore, plans to major in chemistry and minor in biology upon arrival at Graceland University. He has also been selected to participate in the Honors Program at the university due to his outstanding academic success. Chase is the grandson of the late Richard and Betty Moore of Memphis and Clyde and Rosemary Jenkins of Illinois.
