Lady Tigers Take 3rd Place At Scotland County Relays
The Scotland County Lady Tigers finished third in their own track meet last week but definitely had themselves in position to jump over the likes of Clark County and Putnam County to win an upcoming meet. The conference rivals pose a hurdle for the SCR-I team but with two of the best jumpers in the conference the team is poised to pick up a win soon.
The Lady Tigers two first place finishes came in the hurdle events where Ali Fromm took first place in the 100-meter hurdles and teammate Jamie Fuller was first in the 300-meter hurdles.
Fuller also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles and was third in the triple jump.
Fromm added to her scoring totals with a second place finish in the 400-meter dash. The freshman also was a member of the 4x200 meter relay team that took second place. She anchored the event along with teammates Nikki Kerkmann, Amy Blomme and Sara Eggleston.
The top scoring duo of Fuller and Fromm joined together with Eggleston and Katie Shneider to finish second in the 4x100 meter relay.
Ashlee Frederick gave her team a pair of second place finishes running the 800-meter and 1,600 meter runs. The long distance scores also included a second place finish by Erin Morgan in the 3,200 meter run. She finished ahead of teammate Crystal Cotton who was third in the mile run.
Other third place points came from Amy Morgan in the shot put, Eggleston in the 100-meter dash, Blomme in the 800-meter run, Kelly Cochenour in the 1,600 meter run and the 4x400 team of Cochenour, Kerkmann, Blomme and Frederick.
Angie Bulen took fourth place in the discus and was fifth in the shot put while Amy Morgan took fifth in the discus. Schneider was fifth in the 100-meter dash.
Kerkmann picked up sixth place points in the 400-meter dash while Eggleston was sixth in the 200-meter dash.
"This was another good meet for us," said coach Josh Smith. "Our times were a bit slower than usual, but a lot of that had to do with the track being soft. With the spring we've been having, I was just happy to get the meet in and run against some competition."
Putnam County won the event with 165 points with Clark County in second with 151. SCR-I had 146 points with Schuyler County taking fourth place with 86 points.
