Golfers Win Three-In-A-Row To Close Out April
The Scotland County R-I golf team continued its domination of the game with three first place finishes to close out the month of April.
The Tigers finished on top in a triangular meet at Lancaster Country Club on April 28 besting Milan and Schuyler County.
The Tigers finished the day with a score of 165 to win the meet. The Tigers junior varsity team finished second (185) on the day followed by the Schuyler County and Milan varsity teams.
Andy Boyer was the individual medalist for the event turning in a round of 37. The senior was one over par, finishing the day with one birdie and two bogies. Chase Moore was just two strokes off the pace with a 39. He recovered after a rough start on the first three holes to play par golf on the remainder of the course.
Josh McBee carded a 42 and Corvin Drummond had a 46 to round out the team score. Kyle Lister had a 49 for the varsity team.
Vince Rockhold led the JV team with a round of 45. Josh Marlowe shot a 47 while Nick Oldham turned in a round of 49. Brian Dial rounded out the scoring with a 54.
The Tigers returned home April 29 to host Knox County in a meet at Timber Ridge Golf Course in Memphis.
Drummond shined on his home course finishing the day at par. The junior golfer birdied two of the first four holes on his way to tying for the individual medalist honors. Teammate Moore also carded a round of par (34) topped of by a birdie on the course's toughest hole, the par-four number five.
Boyer wasn't far off the pace as he scored a 36 followed by McBee with a 37 to give the team it's lowest score of the year at 141.
That was more than enough to defeat Knox County which scored a 186. The SCR-I junior varsity golfers finished the day with a 175 led by a round of 39 by Marlowe. Oldham shot a 41 with Dial adding a 46 and Rockhold adding a 49.
The Tigers made it three wins in three days by defeating Canton April 30 at Timber Ridge.
Moore bested his previous day's performance finishing the day one-under par with a 33. He had birdies on holes number three and six before a bogey on number nine dropped him back to a 33.
Drummond and Boyer chimed in with rounds of 39 while McBee and Lister had rounds of 42 to give SCR-I a team score of 153.
The Tigers JV squad wasn't far off that pace finishing with a 166 score. Oldham topped off the day, carding a season-best 39. Marlowe had a 41 followed by Rockhold and Dial with rounds of 43.
Canton finished the day with a score of 206 led by Andrew Bozarth with a 49.
