SCR-I Golfers One Stroke Away From Tournament Title
The Scotland County golf team had the opportunity April 10 to see how the squad stacks up against the competition and the golfers had to like what they saw. The Tigers finished second in the 13-team Schuyler County Invitational at Lancaster, just one stroke behind Marceline.
Andy Boyer brought home the individual medalist honors shooting a 74 to beat the rest of the field. The senior turned in a couple birdies on the front nine to score a 38. He trimmed two strokes off that score on the back nine with a near perfect round.
Overall SCR-I had four players score in the top 15 overall. Chase Moore scored a 79 while Josh McBee had one of his better rounds of the early season with an 80. Freshman Kyle Lister had a 37 on the front nine but fell back to the pack in the final round to finish with an 85. That rounded out the team score at 318, one shot off the leaders. Corvin Drummond rounded out the Tigers varsity team outing with a score of 87 after a tough run on hole number one.
The Tigers finished in second place ahead of conference opponents Brookfield (328), Schuyler County (349), Putnam County (374), Milan (389) and Knox County (402). SCR-I bested LaPlata (355), Kirksville (373), Trenton (397), Princeton (431) and North Harrison (514).
