Dolores (Dode) Margaret (Nee Kirpes) Fischer, 77, of Memphis, MO, died on December 11, 2003, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

Delores was born on April 28, 1926, in Colton, WA, the daughter of Nicholas and Eva (Miller) Kirpes.

Delores attended Catholic grade school and high school in Colton, WA.

Dolores was married to Richard Earl Fischer on May 16, 1953 in Yuma, AZ. Richard was serving in the Marine Corp. After his discharge from the service the couple returned to Richardís home state of Missouri, where they raised their family of six children. Richard preceded her in death on February 24, 2001.

During World War II, Dolores worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA, as a riveter on bomber aircraft. Her efforts as one of the countryís league of ďRosie the RivetersĒ was a source of great pride to her even though it caused her permanent and progressive hearing loss.

Dolores was a loving mother and homemaker whose hobbies included flower gardening, sewing, collecting hummingbird figurines and birdhouses, her favorite Ė fishing for bass, catfish and bluegill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert, James, and Paul Kirpes; two sisters, Florence Kirpes Golden and Catherine Kirpes Bircher.

She is survived by six children: Deborah Bradley and husband, Steve of Memphis, MO, Mary Ransford and husband, Harry of Bettendorf, IA, Beth Williams and husband, Keith, Richard Fischer, Jr. and wife, Jean, Denise Hall and husband, Dan, Diane Coleman and husband, Ron, all of DeSoto, MO; She loved her family and delighted in her 27 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two brothers, Larry Kirpes and wife, Carol of Colton, WA, Richard Kirpes and wife, Irene; and one sister, Betty Jutte and husband, Walt of Bellevue, WA.

The family has suggested memorials to the (DAV) Disabled American Veterans, and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Memorial Mass was held December 16, 2003, at St. Rose of Lima Church, in DeSoto, MO, with Father Ron Hopmeir officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Woodlawn Cemetery, DeSoto, MO. Arrangements are being handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
