Nolan L. Phillips, 82, of Burlington, IA, passed away October 4, 2003, at Great River Medical Center ETC, West Burlington, IA.

He was born October 15, 1920, the son of William and Bessie Cooley Phillips at Rutledge, MO.

On May 8, 1948, Nolan married Delma M. Bradley at Kirksville, MO.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from General Electric Wireharness.

Nolan was an avid gardener and loved time spent with family and friends. He was a member in the Church of Christ and was very active in the church.

Survivors include his wife, Delma Phillips of Burlington, IA; daughters, Deborah Nickell of Bristol, VA, and Peggy Rhodes of Oakville, IA; sister, Shirlee Davis of Ft. Madison, IA; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four nephews and five nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother; two brothers; and one son-in-law.

A memorial has been established.

There will be no formal services, however the family will receive friends in Prugh’s Chapel, Burlington, IA, on Thursday, October 9, 2003, between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. As per his request the body has been cremated.
