Martin Earl “Bud” Dale, 74, of Memphis, MO, died September 27, 2003, in the Harry S. Truman VA Medical Center at Columbia, MO.

He was born March 12, 1929, at Bucklin, MO to Samuel Bryan and Hester A. Martin Dale. The family moved to Scotland County, where Martin received his education in the country schools. He attended one year of high school.

He married Ruth Marlene Falk on December 17, 1960, in St. Luke Lutheran Church at Kansas City, KS.

Bud worked for 40 years for the Missouri Department of Transportation. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Memphis, MO.

Bud enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Memphis, MO; and four sons, Rodney and wife, Vanessa Dale of Kirksville, MO, Bryan and wife, Bradi Dale of Morning Sun, IA, John and wife, Kristine Dale of Morning Sun, IA, and Todd Dale of Tama, IA; six grandchildren, Zachary Dale, Elizabeth Dale, Kalyla Dale, Jamie Dale, Joshua Dale and John Dale, Jr.; four step-grandchildren, Michael Hamblin, Baneeckeaquia McCoy, Lithanieum McCoy, and Kamanda McCoy; sister, Evelyn Dale of Kansas City, MO; and a brother, Willard and wife, Dorothy Dale of Crossville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul in infancy.

Funeral services were held October 1, 2003, in the Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, MO with Pastor Mark Appold officiating. Joan Hinds accompanied Crystal Cotton, vocalist. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery. Active casket bearers were Mike Parrish, Rodger Holton, Larry Clark, Steve Bradley, Win Hill, and Larry D. Martin. As an expression of sympathy, a memorial may be given in Mr. Dale’s name to the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Memphis, MO. Memphis Funeral Home of Memphis, MO was in charge of arrangements.
