JAMES ROBERT DAGGS

James Robert Daggs, 66, of Memphis, MO, died July 17, 2003, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.
He was born February 22, 1937 to Marion Edward and Clarabell Dorsey Daggs, south of Arbela, MO.
He graduated from Memphis High School and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Sigma fraternity. He later earned an Associate Degree from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, IA. He was a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Kahoka Order of Eastern Star #40.
He married Beverly Stober on September 4, 1960 in Marshall, MO, and to this union was born three daughters.
James was a farmer and cattleman and served as past president of the Northeast Missouri Angus Association and the Missouri Angus Association. He was among the first members of the Memphis FFA to obtain the American Farmer degree.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Memphis, MO and three daughters, Jacquelin L. Daggs and her husband, Michael Olson of Eldora, IA, Jennifer L. Daggs-Furkin and her husband, Roger of Columbia, MO, and Joy L. Daggs of Columbia, MO. Also surviving are three grand-daughters, Jaelyn R. Daggs-Olson, Jordyn L. Daggs-Olson and Reece W. Furkin and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial in the name of James R. Daggs will be established by the family and may be left at or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street, Memphis, MO.
Funeral services were held at the Memphis Funeral Home, July 21, 2003 with the Reverend Carol Blackwell officiating. Connie Courtney accompanied Lori Fulk on the organ. Active casket bearers were Steve Woodruff, Randy Woodruff, Roy Woodruff, Johnny Erickson, Kenny Rahe, Gerald Brunk, Jim Peck and Mike Aylward. Honorary casket bearers were Dennis Rahe, Tom Burke, Billy Snook, Dick Blackburn, Ron Gardner, and Gordon Wiley. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, MO was in charge of arrangements.
