Pauline (McReynolds) Barber, 96, of Wyaconda, passed away on June 27, 2003 at the Keokuk Area Hospital.

Pauline was born on November 15, 1906 near Colony, the daughter of Sterling Thomas McReynolds and Gertrude Carder McReynolds.

She married John Samuel Barber on Sept. 18, 1925 in Kahoka, MO and had been married for 64 years when he preceded her in death on May 17, 1989.

Pauline and John spent their entire lives working to build an admirable family farm. Over the years, Pauline was an active member in the Wyaconda Christian Church, tended a fine garden, assisted with local elections, raised registered beagles, successfully showed Quarter horses and was an avid bowler. First and foremost she cherished her family.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Elmer McReynolds; two daughters, Donna Barber and one in infancy, and one great-grandchild, Ryan Murphy.

She is survived by her sons, Mack Barber and his wife Lyla of Luling, LA, and Dean Barber and his wife Marjorie of Wyaconda, MO; seven grandchildren; Michael Barber and Johnny of Houston, TX, Steve Barber and Donna of Pascagoula, MS, Jeff Barber and Julie of Parrish, FL, Janene Barber of Valparaiso, FL, Brenda Barber and Billy of Wyaconda, MO, Tracy Murphy and Tim of Luray, MO, and Aaron Barber and Katie of Labelle, MO; six great-grandchildren: Adam, Michelle and Heather Tucker, Tony Murphy, Michaela Newberry, and Maegan Barber; five nieces; Rosemary Van Strander of Fort Madison IA, Carol Scahill of St. Louis, MO, Linda McReynolds of Labelle, MO, Joan Yount of Olatha, KS, Joan Touey of Wilmington, DE, and two nephews: Donald Haas of Fort Madison, IA and Pat Wilkerson of Leewood, MO.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at the Wyaconda Christian Church with Rev. Ernest Deatrick and Pastor Herb Doty officiating. Burial was in the Wyaconda Cemetery. Marilyn Hales and Doris St. Clair Anderson provided the music. Jeff Barber, Mike Barber, Aaron Barber, Tim Murphy, Tony Murphy, and Adam Tucker served as casket bearers. Memorials are suggested to the Wyaconda Christian Church and may be left at or mailed to Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.
