Frieda K. Nolte, 93, of Memphis, MO, died June 10, 2003, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

She was born July 9, 1909 at Union City, OK, to John Louis and Ida Dedeke Meyer.

She married Roy Louis Falk on June 3, 1932 in Sweet Springs, MO, and to this union was born a daughter. He died in 1949. She later married Herman Carl Nolte on June 16, 1956 in Sweet Springs, MO. He died in April 1971.

She continued the operation of her first husband's drug store in Sweet Springs for five years following his death. She moved to Kansas City, KS, after her second marriage where she was a homemaker and kept books for her husband's business. She moved to Memphis in September of 1992 and was a resident in the Scotland County Care Center since March of this year. She enjoyed sewing, needlework and flower gardening.

She was affiliated with the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aide and taught Sunday School for 20 years in Sweet Springs, MO. She also took a course, which enabled her to teach the Bethel Series while in Kansas City. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran church in Memphis, MO.

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth M. Dale and her husband, Martin of Memphis, MO; three step-daughters, Violet Houser of Kansas City, KS, Viola Colvin of Kansas City, KS, Dorothy Duy of Kansas City, KS, and a step-son, Melvin Nolte and his wife, Mary of Andrew, TX. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Rodney Dale and his wife, Venessa of Kirksville, MO, Bryan Dale and his wife, Brandi of Morning Sun, IA, John Dale and his wife, Kris of Morning Sun, IA, and Todd Dale of Tama, IA; eight step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Burfeind of Grafton, WI, Edna Werner of North Villa, MI, and two brothers, Henry Meyer of Burly, ID and John Meyer and his wife, Susan of Walled Lake, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a sister, Ella Alpers and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 14, 2003 in the Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, MO with Pastor Mark Appold officiating. Joan Hinds accompanied Crystal Cotton, vocalist on the organ. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs, MO following funeral services. Casket bearers were Rodney, Brian, John, Todd and Zachary Dale and Michael Hamblin. Honorary bearers were Mark, Myles, and Merl Nolte. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Memphis, MO and may be mailed to or left at the Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street, Memphis, MO 63555. Arrangements were handled by the Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, MO.
