Dale H. Thyson, 75, of Wyaconda, formerly of Mendon and Quincy, IL, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

He was born the son of Earl W. and Neva (Beckmeyer) Thyson on November 19, 1927 in Quincy. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1945.

He married Virlee Richmiller on March 17, 1951, at the Salem Church in Quincy. She survives.

Dale served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return from the service, he farmed in Mendon from 1952-65.

In February 1965, he moved to Wyaconda. He worked at Electric Wheel in Quincy from 1968-82 and then enjoyed buying and selling antiques. Dale enjoyed socializing with his friends.

He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka, MO.

His father preceded him in death.

He was survived by his wife, Virlee of Wyaconda; his daughter, Diane and her husband Robert Hummel of Jefferson City, MO; his son, Chris and his wife Shirley Thyson of Novelty, MO; his mother, Neva Rose Thyson of LaBelle, MO; eight grand-children: Chanel Thyson of Novelty, Brian Etheridge of Kirksville, MO, Michael and wife Connie Hummel of Tampa, FL, and George, Anna, Paul, James and Marie Hummel of Jefferson City; a great-grandchild, Joseph Hummel; and a good friend, Bud Nichols.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, May 13, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Wyaconda with Rev. Ernest Deatrick and Pastor Shawn McAfee presiding. Committal services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, at the Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, IL, with military graveside rites performed by the American Legion Post #37 of Quincy. Serving as pallbearers were Charles Richmiller, Robert Welchert, Fred Washausen, Mike Hummel, James Hummel, and Donald Schmeideskamp. Honorary pallbearers were Bud Nichols, Jimmy Hooper, Carl Randle, Jason Seyb, Larry Randle, and Fred Webster.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.

The Gerth Funeral Service handled the arrangements from their Wyaconda chapel.
