WALLACE R. ELDER

Wallace R. Elder, 66, of Baring, MO, passed away April 4, 2003, at his home in Baring, MO.
The son of Clarence and Verda (Wells) Elder, he was born September 16, 1936, at Baring, MO.
He served his country in the United States Army working in a construction unit. Wallace was a member of the First Christian Church in Edina, MO.
He worked for the Knox County Rock Quarry, the Kaser Quarry at Greensburg, MO, and with several of the Martin-Marietta Quarries in Iowa. He also drove semi trucks for numerous people including locally for Norman Burke, Kenny Hustead, Pete Mayfield, Donk Hathaway and Tom Kurth. Wallace enjoyed the friendly card games in town and watching auto racing on television.
On February 13, 1960 at Wyaconda, MO, Wallace was united in marriage to Janet Randle.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of Baring, MO; three daughters, Darlene McClung and her husband, Barry of Kyle, TX, Kay Mallett of Baring, MO, and Carol Elder of Memphis, MO; one son, Richard Elder and his wife, Bonnie of Edina, MO; two sisters, Hazel Keller and her husband, Vernon of Davenport, IA, and Virginia Peterson and her husband, Jake of Gorin, MO; 12 grandchildren, Clarence and Breanna McClung, Brad and Nicholas Mallett, Jeff McBee, Barbara McBee and her special friend, Seth Dunnett, Russell and Amanda Heck, Brandon, Richard, Cody and Shanna Elder; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wallace was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Hillis Elder and Alvis Elder.
Funeral services were held April 7, 2003, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO, with Reverend Dewayne Wellborn officiating. Burial with Military Graveside Honors were in the Greensburg Cemetery at Greensburg, MO. Casket bearers were Shawn Elder, Richard Peterson, Bard Mallett, Jeff McBee, Greg Keller and Ronnie Peterson. Honorary casket bearers were Bill Cooper, Richard Clark, Raymond Rudicil, Donald Olson, Dell Elder, and Seth Dunnett. An expression of sympathy in memory of Wallace Elder may be made to Hospice 2000. Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home of Edina, MO was in charge of arrangements.
