Donald Richard Burrus, 54, of South Amana, IA, died April 7, 2003 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital in Marengo, IA, of an apparent heart attack.
Donald Richard Burrus was born June 16, 1948, in Bible Grove, MO, the son of Richard and Norma Trent Burrus.
He graduated from Scotland County Schools and Northeast Missouri State College in Kirksville, MO.
Donald was united in marriage to Carol Ferguson on September 1, 1968, in Memphis, MO.
He was involved in sales of agriculture related products for 35 years in Missouri, Illinois and Iowa. The family made their home in the Williamsburg, IA area in 1984 and later moved to the South Amana, IA area. He also owned and operated Burrus Mobile Home Moving for several years. Don was currently employed as a sales representative for Agro-Culture Liquid Fertilizer. He was a life member of the N.R.A., past Williamsburg City Council member, past president of the Iowa State Archery Association, a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #414 A.F. & A.M. in Greensburg, MO and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of South Amana, IA; three daughters, Amy Ward and husband, John of Boone, IA, Tina of South Amana, IA, and Libby of Ames, IA; three granddaughters, Taylor and Ashley Ward and Yves Campbell; a sister-in-law, Deb Herring and husband, Bill of Kingdom City, MO; several nieces and nephews; a host of very special aunts, uncles and cousins.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be remembered as a kind, caring person with an insatiable appetite for adventure. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 9, 2003, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg, IA, where the family will greet friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Greensburg Masonic Lodge, Williamsburg Public Library or Bible Grove School Preservation.
Graveside Masonic Services will be held Friday, April 11, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the Greensburg Cemetery in Greensburg, MO, by the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #414 A.F. & A.M. Condolences and tributes may be sent to the family www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries.
