WILLIAM KINNEY COSSEL

William Kinney Cossel, 87, of Memphis, MO, passed away March 28, 2003, in his home.
The son of George W. and Bessie F. Kinney Cossel, he was born January 2, 1916, in Davis County, IA.
After moving to Scotland County he attended Barker School. He was a member of the Barker Methodist Church.
He was married to Berniece McCullough on November 28, 1935 at the Barker Parsonage. To this union four children were born, Bill, Carolyn, Jerry, and Kathy.
Kinney started working for H.H. Tucker when he was eight years old and continued working for Tucker for 18 years. He moved to a farm and started farming for himself. In 1968 he had a farm sale and moved to Memphis. Kinney worked for the City of Memphis in the street and water department until 1979 when he retired. He then mowed the Memphis Cemetery for 20 years. While in the Barker area Kinney helped his dad dig many graves in Barker Cemetery. Kinney enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Berniece of 67 years; a son, William Rae and wife, Bonnie Cossel of Mondamin, IA; two daughters, Carolyn Marie Rudicil and husband, Raymond of Edina, MO and Kathy Cossel of Cantril, IA. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, James Rudicil of Edina, MO, Deborah Miller of Muskogee, OK, Melinda Wiley of Cantril, IA, Diane Rodgers of Edina, MO, Leanna Probst of Glenwood, IA, Kinney Lee Cossel of Lawrenceville, PA, Brian Clark of Wagoner, OK, Julie Arnold of Gardner, KS, Linda Martin of Las Vegas, NV, and Donnie Fowler of Kirksville, MO; 11 great-grandchildren survive; Ashley and Heather Miller, Eric and Miranda Wiley, Aaron Hamner, Kilie and Brent Cossel, Sheridan Clark, Jeffrey Rethford, Michael Probst, and Stacie Tague; two great-great-grandsons, Kyle and Mason; a sister, Rosalie Spees of Memphis; and special daughter-in-law, Marci Cossel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Cossel; a sister, Gladdene Cossel and a brother, Cecil Cossel.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 31, 2003 in the Barker Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Blackwell officiating. Burial followed in the Barker Cemetery. Pianist was Karen Hull. Casket bearers were: Cody Arnold, Brian Clark, Kinney Lee Cossel, Donnie Fowler, Keith Miller, Danny Probst, Duane Rodgers, James Rudicil, and Randy Wiley. Honorary casket bearers were: Deborah Miller, Diana Rodgers, Melinda Wiley, Leanna Probst, Julie Arnold, and Linda Martin. As an expression of sympathy memorials may be given to the Barker Church or the American Heart Association. Memphis Funeral Home of Memphis, MO was in charge of arrangements.
