Maxine Grabowski, 91, of Memphis, MO, died February 22, 2003, in the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

Born April 27, 1911, in St. Louis, MO, Maxine was the daughter of Harrison Russell and Margaret Matlick Forquer.

She married William F. Grabowski, September 28, 1935 in Crownpoint, IN. He died May 27, 1999.

She was a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church.

Maxine was a 74-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, which began on June 6, 1929, when she was 18 years old. She was initiated on June 24, 1929 in the Carter Chapter #107 in Memphis. On May 27, 1947 she transferred her membership to the Rutledge Chapter #343. In 1953 she transferred to the Greensburg Chapter #258 and that chapter closed in 2000. She then transferred to the Colony Chapter #543. Maxine held many stations and was always a willing worker.

She was also a member of the Memphis Rebekah Lodge #632 and Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Malta Shrine #12 Keokuk, IA. She was a member of the Mary Circle of the Methodist Church and volunteered for the Scotland County Nutrition Site. She was president of the Calorie Counters Club for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Harry Lee and wife, Judith of Farmington, IA, and William Samuel and wife, Judith of Timpson, TX; eight grandchildren, Alan Wayne and Gary Lynn Rush, Tammy Sue Widmar, Kerry Lynn Grabowski, William Aubry Grabowski, Lt. Col. R.L. Grabowski (USMC). Vickey Lynn Grabowski-Lee, and RoxAnn Ruth Grabowski; 10 great-grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Miller, William Joseph Grabowski, Samantha Grabow-ski, Michael Grabowski, Adam Lee Grabowski, Alexandra Leigh Grabowski, Adam Lee Grabowski, Alexandra Leigh Grabowski, Joseph Harrison Lee Grabowski, Banning Scot Grabowski-Lee, and BreeAnn Grabowski-Lee; and two great-great-grandchildren, Rashondra Claire Miller and LeAndrea Michelle Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter and son-in-law, Clarine and Ivan Rush.

Eastern Star Services were held February 25, 2003 at the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, conducted by Colony Chapter #543.

Funeral services were held February 26, 2003 at Memphis Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Hammack officiating. Joan Hinds accompanied Schelle Cooley, vocalist. Burial was in the South Bethel Cemetery near Rutledge, MO. Active casket bearers were Alan Rush, Gary Rush, Tammy Widmar, Kerry Grabowski, William Grabowski, Lt. Col. R.L. Grabowski (USMC), Vickey Grabowski-Lee, RoxAnn Grabowski, and Diane Grabowski Kight. Honorary casket bearers were great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mem-orials may be made to the Scotland County Care Center, Scotland County Memorial Library or Scotland County Nutrition Site. Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, MO was in charge of arrangements.
