Garnet Marie St. Clair, 93, of Kahoka, MO died February 1, 2003 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, MO.

She was born November 20, 1909, southeast of Kahoka, MO, in the Honey Creek neighborhood, the daughter of Arch and Leota Lehman McNally.

She married Richard E. St. Clair of Wyaconda, MO, on May 27, 1930. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1975.

Her educational training began in the Diamond School near her home. Her high school education was obtained at Kidder Institute, an Acadamy sponsored by the Congregational Church in Kidder, MO. She attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, Kirksville, MO, before teaching a short time at Gem Rural School in Clark County.

Garnet became a member of the Honey Creek Congregational Church at the age of 12.When Dick's school work brought them to live in Kahoka, MO they became members of the St. Paul United Church of Christ. She was an active member of the Women's Fellowship and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, having been a class teacher for many years. She helped make many quilts over the years to be given to families in need. She also made quilts for each member of her family. The Women's Christian Temperance Union was a special interest of hers, having been president and secretary at various times as long as it remained an active organization in Kahoka, MO.

For a number of years she owned and maintained an outstanding herd of Registered Hereford Cattle and served on the board of directors and as president of the Northeast Missouri Hereford Association. She followed her husband as a member of the board of directors of the Kahoka State Bank and served as secretary.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Marie Hoffmann of Fort Collins, CO, her grandson and his wife, Robert and Mary Hoffmann of Windsor, CO and their daughters, Kelsey and Stephanie and her granddaughter, Lisa and her husband, Paul Nelson of Golden, CO.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother and sister; two sons-in-law and her great-granddaughter, Carly Hoffmann.

Funeral services were held February 4, 2003 at the St. Paul United Church of Christ, Kahoka, MO, with Reverend Ken Beckmann officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul United Church of Christ.
