Fair Board Receives Letter Of Resignation
Itís official Ė the Scotland County Speedway is looking for a new promoter. The Scotland County Fair Board met Friday, October 24 to receive the certified letter from racetrack promoter Terry Hoenig announcing that he will not return to SCS in 2004. Word had spread about the decision last week after there was a report on the Lee County Speedway website.
ďWith regret I am writing this letter to inform the board of my decision about returning to promote the races at the Scotland County Fairgrounds,Ē the letter stated. ďAs of October 14, 2003, I am resigning as promoter and declining the opportunity to renew a contract with the Scotland County Fair Board for the 2004 racing season.Ē
According to board members, Hoenigís letter indicated his choice not to return was a business decision. The letter expressed the promoterís appreciation for all the support shown to the track by volunteers, sponsors and simply through the promotion of the racing sport in the Memphis area.
ďWe have met many great people and the crew did an excellent job at the track,Ē his letter stated. ďI want the board to know that there are no hard feelings and that I wish (the fair board) the best of luck in the future.Ē
Fair board members reiterated those sentiments toward Hoenig, wishing him success in his future endeavors.
