Bible Grove Preservation Days To Get Underway August 16
Two new programs are set for Bible Grove ďPreservation DaysĒ. Saturday, August 16th, a historical program will be presented by Glenna (Phillips) Maxwell about the consolidation and erection of the Bible Grove School, in the west room of the second floor.
Glenna is a native Scotland Countian, graduating from Scotland County R-I High School in 1990 and Northwest Missouri State University of Maryville, in 1995. She majored in History with a minor in Bachelor of Arts in History. Glenna is married to Chris Maxwell and they have two daughters, Adrianna and Maddi Jo. They make their home in Macedonia, IL and Glenna works at Ren Lake College as the Payroll Benefits Accountant. Glenna was a charter member of the Scotland County Genealogical Society in 1986 at the age of 14. The program that she will present was prepared as her college senior seminar presentation. She is interested in genealogy and history and her hobbies include quilting and stamping.
A second program is a skit from the 50ís and will take place in the third floor stage room. Volunteers involved in the skit are Alisa Kigar, Kristine Kirchner, Amanda Watkins, Eric and Gwen Dunn, Scott and Angela Westhoff and David McRobert, all of Scotland County.
Both programs will run at one, two and three oíclock in separate rooms to accommodate a large crowd that afternoon. Admission will be purchased in advance by contacting Greta Slocum at (660) 883-5831. By purchasing your tickets in advance you may assure your seat for the time you wish to view the program. Due to last yearís overwhelming response to the programs and comfortable seating issues the committee has chosen to allow a total of 40 visitors to be seated in the stage room at one time. Capacity for the Bible Grove School program will be 20 visitors at one time. At this point the programs have been set to run three times throughout the afternoon and depending on the crowd they may run a fourth time at 4:00 p.m. Air conditioners will be running.
The committee will host a hog roast supper at 6:00 p.m. $7.00 per person, $3.00 age 10 and under. The Harvest Band featuring Lonnie and Jessica Erwin will perform at 8:00 p.m.
