Bible Grove Fundraisers Have Netted $7,000 of $40,000 Goal
The mercury on the old thermostat isn't the only thing shooting up as summer arrives. The red marker is also moving skyward on the fundraiser board for the Bible Grove Historical Preservation Committee.
The group's fundraisers have earned close to $7,000. The picture of the goal sign is posted in Bible Grove at the entrance of the rock road where you turn south into the school lane. The Committee has hosted a pancake breakfast, a sausage and biscuits and gravy breakfast, a bake sale, a soup supper, and a benefit auction. July's fundraiser will be a car wash at Gas N More on Hwy 136, Saturday July 19th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The committee also is raising money by selling Bible Grove T-shirts. They are available in small to 2XL in royal blue, hunter green, red and hot pink for $10.00 per shirt.
The committee also has postcards of the Bible Grove School, the Rutledge School and the Memphis Courthouse for sale for $1.00 each.
The group's annual Preservation Days celebration will be held August 15th, 16th, and 17th. The Sunday of Preservation Days at 2:00 p.m. the committee will raffle a quilted wall hanging donated by Glenna Maxwell and Maxine Phillips. Tickets are 3 for $1.00. You may view the wall hanging at the Art Hall during this week's fair or in the office of Prosecuting Attorney, Kim Nicoli from July 7-11.
T-shirts, Postcards, and Raffle tickets may be purchased from the following committee members: Dennis and Sharon Bradley 883-5774, Gene and Lila Spray 883-5786, James and Amy Spray 883-5343, Terry and Kathy Marshall 883-5383, David McRobert 883-5631, Harold Snyder 883-5357, Max Hamilton 465-2206, Emmett and Maxine Phillips 465-2375, or Greta Slocum 883-5831.
Proceeds from the above sales will go towards the restoration of the Bible Grove School, with the exception of the Rutledge School postcards. Proceeds from the Rutledge postcard will be donated to the Rutledge School Restoration Society.
