Summer Play Auditions To Be Held May 12 And 13
Have you longed to show off your comedic skills in front of an audience without having to sing a note? Well, this is your summer to shine at the Memphis Community Theatre, where Director Mary Couch is searching for new talent.
The Memphis Community Players are currently holding auditions for Tim Kelly's "The Butler Did It, Again", a two-act comedy sequel to the MCP production that was staged in the summer of 2001.
"In this show, many of the same detectives are invited to another of Miss Maple's Weekend Parties, however, this time the setting will be in the Louisiana bayou rather than in England," noted Couch. "I'm looking for a cast of 12 adults (six men - six women) to play the parts of authors, detectives and houseguests," she continued. "I will also need stage managers, crew chiefs and committee members to help with costumes, props, makeup, box office, etc. There are plenty of ways to get involved, so I want to see lots of folks join in on the fun," Couch added.
Auditions will be held May 12 and 13 at the Memphis Theatre. Anyone wishing to audition or sign up for crews should drop by the theatre between 6:30-8:00 p.m. on either night to fill out an information sheet. Those auditioning will also be asked to read "cold" from the script. Couch also noted, "It is a wise idea to bring along your personal calendar of activities and prior commitments in order to fill out the information sheet accurately."
Evening rehearsals will begin with read-throughs of the script May 21-22, with staging rehearsals getting under way May 27 - 29 and continuing Monday - Thursday evenings during June. Performances are scheduled for June 24 - 28.
For further information contact Mary Couch at 465-8901 during school hours or 660-397-3917 evenings.
