Fire Investigation Leads To Two Juvenile Suspects
Two youths have been turned over to the First District Juvenile Office in Scotland County following an investigation into a vandalism case December 16, 2002 that resulted in a fire.
The investigation by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department led to the two juvenile suspects in the case.
Sometime between December 14-16 vandals shot numerous rifle rounds through a mobile home and adjoining buildings on a rural Scotland County property. One of the rounds was believed to have ruptured a gas line in one of the buildings that ultimately resulted in a fire. The blaze destroyed a mobile home and two other outbuildings that housed an estimated $150,000 in property and equipment.
Grinnell Mutual Insurance Company was offering a $10,000 reward for information in the case.
Representatives of the juvenile office indicated the case is moving forward against the two youths. They stressed that the individuals are innocent until proven guilty in court.
