A Memphis man was among those to win more than $8.1 million in cash prizes of $1,000 that were awarded to Missouri Lottery players during March.
Bill Hoskinson was one of the 91 winners in the $1,000 Scratchers game. The Lottery also handed prizes of $2,000; $2,500, $3,000, $5,000, $10,000, $20,000, $25,000, $30,000 and the grand prize of $100,000 in the popular scratchers card game.
James and Marguerite Boesing of Kimberling City were the $100,000 winners.
The Missouri Lottery also handed out big prizes in the Club Keno games as well as in the Pick 3, Pick 4, Lotto and SHOW ME 5 Paydown games.
The biggest pay went to the Lotto jackpot winners, Robert and Ruth Williamson of Dittmer who won a whopping $6.5 million.
Thousands of other cash prizes of less than $1,000 also were awarded during the month.
The Missouri Lottery transferred $16.9 million to the Lottery Proceeds Fund for public education on April 18. The monthly proceeds transfer of $16,907,646 is based on ticket sales in March. It brings the total provided to public education in fiscal year 2003 to more than $163 million and the total amount of proceeds generated by the Lottery since it began in 1986 to nearly $2 billion.
Approximately 27.5 cents of every dollar spent playing the Lottery goes to public education programs in Missouri. The Missouri Lottery's contribution to public education is about three percent of education's total annual funding.
Each year, the Legislature appropriates Lottery proceeds to various education programs. For a complete list of education programs funded, visit the Lottery's Web site at www.molottery.com.
