SCBPA Will Vote On Name Change For Organization
Scotland County Business & Professional Association mem-bers will vote on whether or not to become the Scotland County Chamber of Commerce and to join the Missouri State Chamber of Commerce.
Members will meet at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, March 11, at Java Jitters on the West Side of the square in Memphis to vote on the proposals and discuss the Scotland County Website.
Representatives from Sky-house Communications will be present to answer questions and discuss how to better utilize the website to promote business in the county. Members in attendance will be given a special price of $25 to set up a webpage on the county website. The normal cost is $35.
Every business in Scotland County gets a free listing on the website. Businesses can also get their own webpage on the website with more information and a picture of their business.
The initiative to change the name gained momentum with new SCBPA President Jim Nishida-Adams. The biggest reason for the change is to form a more congruent approach to promoting business in Scotland County and to get greater name recognition.
Joining the Missouri State Chamber of Commerce has garnered a little debate. The State Chamber offers access to networking and different lobbying efforts, as well as an insurance package. But there has been discussion about the real benefits that the State Chamber offers to smaller businesses.
The meeting is open to the public. Any business that wishes to join needs to send a check for $35 to: SCBPA, P.O. Box 201, Memphis, MO 63555.
