SCR-I To Host District 5 Hoops Playoffs

Memphis will be the site for the Missouri Class 2, District 5 boys and girls basketball tourney to determine bids for the state playoffs. Play will get underway Monday, March 3 and will wrap up after three rounds with the championship games on Friday, March 7.

District 5 consists of teams from SCR-I, Milan, Knox County, Canton, Princeton and Schuyler County.

In the girls division, Milan is the top seed. Scotland County is ranked second. Both teams have an opening round bye.

Knox County (4th seed) will face off against Princeton (5th seed) in the tournament opener at 4:30 p.m. March 3. The winner will advance to play top ranked Milan at 7:30 p.m. March 5.

In the other first round game March 3, Canton (3rd seed) will take on Schuyler County (6th seed) at 7:30 p.m. The winner then moves on to play Scotland County at 4:30 p.m. March 5.

The girls championship game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 7.

On the boys side of the action it is Canton sitting in the top spot. Knox County earned the #2 ranking to receive the other first round bye.

Scotland County (4th seed) will do battle with Milan (5th seed) in the final game of the opening round at 9:00 p.m. Monday, March 3.

If the Tigers prevail they would move on to play top ranked Canton in the semi-finals March 5 at 6:00 p.m.

Third seeded Schuyler County is slotted to play Princeton (6th seed) in a first round contest March 3 at 6:00 p.m. The winner will play Knox County on March 5 at 9:00 p.m.

The boys championship game will be played Friday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m.
