$10,000 Reward Being Offered In Vandalism Case
Billions of dollars go up in smoke each year and a recent fire in Scotland County did it's part to add to those dollar figures.
Vandals are being blamed for a fire December 16 that destroyed a mobile home and adjoining machine shed causing an estimated $150,000 in damage.
The case is being investigated by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department. Sometime between December 14-18 vandal(s) shot numerous rifle rounds through the mobile home and other property at the site. It is believed that one round penetrated a cook stove, rupturing a gas line which ultimately led to the fire that destroyed a mobile home and adjoining machine shed, which was filled with tools, tractors and numerous other hunting and fishing items.
Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, the Grinnell Mutual Insurance Company is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the vandalism and fire investigations.
Individuals with information in the case can earn up to $10,000 by providing credible evidence concerning the vandalism and the resulting fire.

Sheriff Wayne Winn indicated his department has been working on the case diligently since the vandalism was reported. He indicated several leads are being reviewed but added that the reward money definitely could help the investigators break the case.
