Nine-Year-Old Memphis Girl Hurt In One-Car Crash
A pair of Memphis youths escaped a one-vehicle accident January 11 at 4:30 p.m. with only minor injuries after the vehicle they were in went off a gravel road and overturned into a deep drainage ditch.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Rebecca J. Miller, 17, was westbound on Route CC in a 1996 Pontiac. The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the left side of the road where it entered a county gravel road. Miller lost control of the vehicle on the gravel road and it slid off the right side of the road into a ditch where the car overturned and came to rest on its top.
Katie M. Miller, nine, a passenger in her sister's car, suffered minor injuries. She was taken by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital. Rebecca Miller was not injured in the crash.
The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the ambulance service, the Scotland County Sheriff's Department and the Scotland County Fire and Rescue Squad.
