Local EMS Providers Planning Ahead With Emergency Management Meeting
Area law enforcement, fire departments, local officials and health care providers will come together in Memphis January 21 at the Memphis Fire Station for the Scotland County Emergency Management Meeting.
"This meeting is going to be conducted to allow networking between county agencies to share ideas and explain resources available to the citizens of Scotland County in the event of a disaster," stated Scotland County and City of Memphis Emergency management Director Jason Moss.
The meeting will bring together representatives of the Memphis, Gorin, Downing, Rutledge and Scotland County fire departments along with the Scotland County Sheriff's Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and City of Memphis Police Department.
Other entities invited to the program will include elected officials from the county and the cities of Memphis, Rutledge and Gorin. The ambulance service, health department and hospital will be represented at the gathering as will the local schools and media outlets.
"In the event of a disaster, we as a county will pool together resources and provide the needed assistance to the residents as efficiently and effectively as possible," Moss said. "Hopefully, meetings like this one will better allow us to serve the community in such a time of need."
Moss added that the meeting is important for all involved as it will better allow emergency service providers to be prepared with any type of emergency that may someday be faced in this rural community.
