JV Football Team Improves To 2-1 With Win At Milan
The Scotland County junior varsity football team improved to 2-1 on the year with a 30-0 victory over Milan September 23 in Milan.
The Tigers defense dominated the contest, not only shutting out the Wildcats but never even allowing them outside the 40 yard line. Jon Keller, Kevin Moffett and Joe Talbert each recorded quarterback sacks on the night to lead the attack.
The SCR-I defenders also caused a couple Milan turnovers. Cornerback Danny Roach stripped the Milan running back of the ball on the Wildcats first possession. Thomas Miller recovered the fumble. Safety Carl Wittstock picked off a Milan pass in the third quarter to help preserve the shutout.
The offense was headed up by a huge night from receiver Jason Findling. The junior scored three touchdowns on the evening. He caught TD passes of 65 and 40 yards from Roach. He also scored on a 55-yard reverse run. He added to the score with a pair of receptions on two-point conversion plays.
Roach had a solid game at quarterback with the two TD passes. The other score came on a one yard TD run by Jeremy Hinds. He also ran in a two-point conversion.
"Overall we really played hard and shutdown Milan on Monday night" said coach Chris Montgomery. "It was another nice win for this team coming off our 16-8 victory against Clark County the prior week."
