Hunter, Day Win Senior Golf Tourney
A total of 38 golfers gathered for the annual Senior's 2-Man Scramble Golf Tournament held at Timber Ridge Golf Course in Memphis June 19. Nineteen teams took the course for the contest.
The team of Hunter and Day won the event with a score of 63, which is five under par for 18 holes. Two teams tied for second with a score of 64. Miller and Schooneover won the tiebreaker on the second hole to edge out the team of James and Luther.
The A-Flight title went to Schultz and Richerson with a round of 70. Bolick and Wilkerson took three holes to knock off Fromm and Mattingly in a tiebreaker for second place. Both teams closed out the 18 holes of regulation play with scores of 71.
Gil Day not only was on the winning team in the championship flight he also cashed in with a couple top shots in the individual contests. He had the longest drive on hole number two to win a $25 gift certificate from Community Bank of Memphis. He also sank the longest putt on the fifth hole to win a $30 gift certificate from The Social.
Jerry Wilson's tee shot on hole number three was only 18 inches from a hole-in-one, earning him a $25 cash prize for closest to the pin.
Jim Hunter took home a certificate for two steak dinners courtesy of Keith's Café with the second shot closest to the pin on hole number four. His shot was just 16 inches from the hole, narrowly missing the eagle to send his team two shots under par.
