Father's Day Tourney Draws Over 100 Golfers To Timber Ridge
What's more traditional on father's day than a round of golf? Apparently more than 100 area golfers agreed as the annual Father's Day Golf Tournament at Timber Ridge Golf Course June 16 drew 53 teams for the 2-man scramble event.
A total of 27 teams hit the course for the morning round followed by the afternoon crew that featured 26 teams. Several golfers played in both the morning and afternoon rounds.
The championship flight title went to Dave Shalley and Mark Drummond who shot a 57. Dave teamed up with his brother Doug Shalley to score the second best round of the tournament with a 58. Doug and Kris Lister finished third with a round of 60 on the day.
The A flight featured a three-team tie for first with scores of 68. Jim McBee and Bob Henselman won the tie breaker. John and David Luther were second followed by Bryan and Mark Mattingly.
The B flight saw similar results with three teams tied with 71 scores. Dave Seppelt and Nathan Sapp took first in the flight. Brent Bondurant and Eyad Al Jundi were second followed by Jim and Jake McBee in third.
The Beer flight title was captured by Brian Robinson and Roger Riebel with a 74. They edged Chipper and Chris Harris in the tie breaker. Chris Hunt and Troy Alexander were third with a score of 75.
Each hole featured a skills contest. Chipper Harris had the drive closest to the 100-yard marker on hole number one.
Mark Drummond won the prize for longest drive on hole number two. In the morning session Ken McMinn was five feet and 10 inches from the pin to win the 50/50 pot on hole number three. Don Fromm was the winner in the afternoon group at four feet 11 inches from the cup.
Doug Small was closest to the 100-yard marker on hole number four while Kevin Fromm came closest to the pin with the second shot on hole number five to win the prize.
On hole number six Dean Bolick took the honors with the second shot closest to the pin, coming within five feet of an eagle. Gary Dial earned bragging rights with the longest putt of the day on hole number seven.
Danny Bradley had the closest shot to the pin on hole number eight to win the gift certificate from Community Bank of Memphis.
Bryan Mattingly's longest putt of the tournament on hole number nine earned him a gift certificate from U.S. Bank Memphis Branch.
