Home Team Wins Scotland County Relays
The Scotland County boys track team got a preview of the conference competition and kept the home crowd happy as the Tigers cruised to first place finish in the Scotland County Relays April 25 in Memphis.
The Tigers defeated six conference schools to take the title with 162 points. That edged out Putnam County (153.5) and Clark County (115). Knox County was fourth followed by Schuyler County and North Shelby. Milan and Brookfield did not attend the event, with the later expected to give SCR-I a tough run for the league title next week.
The Tigers picked up four first place finishes on the day. Jason Glass won the discus. Jason Findling took top honors in the long jump. Tim Buford picked up the win in the 200 meter dash. The Tigers 4 x 800 team of Clint Cottrell, Cody Holt, Danny Roach and David Hillyer continued its winning ways.
Buford went on to take second place in the 100 meter dash and was a member of the second place 4x200 team along with Findling, Tim Robinson and Aarron Holt.
Holt won second place in the high jump with Cottrell taking third in the event.
Findling had the team's other second place points in the 300 meter low hurdles. Jon Keller was third in the event. Keller had two other third place finishes in the triple jump and the 110 meter hurdles.
Other third place finishes were turned in by Cottrell in the 800 meter run. Lance Norton was third in the 3,200 meter run. The Tigers 4x100 team of Joel Myers, Robinson, Buford and A. Holt also finished third.
