Throwers Top Scoring For Lady Tigers Track Team The throwing tandem of Sara Norton and Amy Morgan combined for 20 of the Scotland County Lady Tigers track team's 44 points to lead their team to a fifth place finish in the Eddyville-Blakesburg relays in Iowa held April 16.

Morgan was second in the shot put with a throw of 29 feet four inches. Norton finished third in the event with a heave of 28 feet. The duo flip-flopped in the standings in the discus. Norton was second, clearing 97 feet two inches. Morgan was third with a throw of 93 feet seven inches.

The Lady Tigers picked up second place points in the 4x100 relay. Sara Eggleston, Megan Walker, Valerie Crawford and Jessie Cotton finished in a time of 58.8 seconds.

"The throws continue to be our strength but the running events are starting to pick up as well," said coach Josh Smith. "The 4x100 team ran its fastest time of the year despite dropping the baton between the second and third runners. Had they not dropped it they might have broken the school record (missed by just three seconds) and won the race."

Blomme took third place in the 400 meter low hurdles in a time of 1:19.20. The runners were third in the sprint medley relay in a time of 2:18.6. The team consisted of Eggleston, Cotton, Blomme and Crawford.

Blomme, Walker, Cotton and Eggleston combined once again for a fifth place run in the 4x200 relay.

Rebecca Consbrock finished fourth in the grueling 1,500 meter run. Norton picked up sixth place points in the 800-meter run.

"Blomme continues to do well in the intermediate hurdles and Consbrock ran a very smart and competitive 1,500," coach Smith said. "She continues to show signs of improvement as the season wears on."
