Freshmen Lady Tigers Finish Year With 4-3 Mark
The Scotland County freshman girls basketball team wrapped up the 2001-2002 season with a 4-3 mark.
After a strong start to the year with a first place finish at the Knox County Tournament, the Lady Tigers dropped four straight games in the middle of the year before ending the season on a high note.
Knox County was responsible for the final two losses of the year for SCR-I. The Eagles dispatched Scotland County by a score of 47-28 on January 7 in Edina. Ashley Ellison was the top scorer for SCR-I with nine points on the night.
The Lady Tigers narrowed the margin in the rematch but it did not matter in the end as the Eagles notched another win by a 38-35 score. Valerie Crawford poured in 21 points to pace the SCR-I offense.
The losing streak came to an end January 18 when the Lady Tigers defeated Clark County 29-24 in front of the home Memphis crowd. Megan Walker led the way to the win with 14 points.
