Linley Elsworth Egbert, 85, of Wyaconda, MO, passed away October 12, 2002, in the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, MO.

The son of William Daniel and Arminda Dean (Boltz) Egbert, he was born on August 12, 1917, in Scotland County, MO.

He was a graduate of Wyaconda High School in 1935.

On November 25, 1942, he was married to Almeta Howell in Kahoka, MO.

Linley was a self-employed mechanic who worked with his brother, Theodore, in the Egbert Brothers Garage in Wyaconda, MO. They had a long working relationship with Morgan Oil Company. He was a hard worker and even though he retired in 1976, he continued to keep busy.

Linley raised wildlife, such as pheasant, quail, ducks, and geese, for conservation work. He also raised Pointer bird dogs.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Theodore, Cecil, and Arden; one sister, Lucille; and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Almeta of Wyaconda, MO; three children, Allan L. Egbert and his wife, Marie of Tallahassee, FL, Van E. Egbert and his wife, Sharon of Mason City, IA, and Virginia and her husband, Scott Watson of Ft. Madison, IA; six grandchildren, Allan Jr. an Allison Egbert of Boston, MA, Rebecca Egbert of Iowa City, IA, William Egbert of Mason City, IA, and Jared and Elizabeth Watson of Ft. Madison, IA; one sister, Verona Dean Hickey of Keokuk, IA; one sister-in-law, Pat Egbert of Perry, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held October 15, 2002 in the Wyaconda Cemetery, Wyaconda, MO, with Pastor Shawn McAfee and Reverend Ernest Deatrick officiating. Serving as casket bearers were Ed Hicks, Joe Paul, Tom Priebe, Tom LaFrenz, Jim Alderton, and Kenneth Dieterich. Memorials have been suggested to the Clark County Hospice. Arrangements were handled by Gerth Funeral Service from their Wyaconda chapel.
