Arthur Gerald "Red" Egbert, 71, died October 6, 2002, at his home in rural Downing, MO.

He was born the son of Arthur and Eunice (Barr) Egbert on August 27, 1931, in Gorin, MO.

Red graduated from the Gorin High School

In 1952, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed at Ft. Ord, CA. For his service to his country, Red earned a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal.

Red was employed at Caterpillar in Joilet, IL, for 30 years.

He was married to the former Virginia Woods on March 9, 1982 by the Rev. Kenneth Campbell. She survives.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.

Upon his retirement in 1987, Red and Virginia returned to his childhood home area, settling near Downing, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Brenda Stalheim of Winona, MN; step-children, Teresa Posthumus of Becker, MN, Cheryl and husband, David Maddox of Pelzer, SC, Lisa Woods of Lakewood, CO, Jason Woods of Grafenwoehr, Germany, and Amanda Woods of Kahoka, MO; a sister, Anna Geneva and her husband, Meredith "Cap" Parrish of Eldorado Springs, MO; eight step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; nephews, Larry Eddinfield and Jeffery Parrish and their families; numerous cousins.

Memorial services were held October 10, 2002, in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO, with Pastor Jack Thompson officiating. Special music was provided by Ann Luther, organist, and Mark Masden, vocalist. Arrangements were handled by Gerth Funeral Service from their Memphis chapel.
