Reva F. Nelson, 82, of Keokuk, IA, formerly of Scotland County, MO, passed away August 31, 2002, at Great River Medical Center, Burlington, IA.

The daughter of Alonozo C. and Ida Belle (Nelson) Jones, Reva was born August 4, 1920, in Granger, MO.

She graduated from Granger High School in 1938, and Southeastern Community College, Keokuk, IA, in 1966.

She married Hubert F. (Shorty) Nelson in Luray, MO, on January 28, 1939. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1962.

She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church, also an avid reader, St. Louis Cardinal fan and also loved to dance and play cards.

Survivors include her daughters, Reva Ann Barker and husband, Noel of Granger, MO, and Nancy Nelson of Ft. Madison, IA; two grandchildren, Stan Barker of Farmington, IA and Susan E. Barker of Clark, MO; four great-granddaughters, Amber, Brittany, Courtney and Jamie Barker; one sister, Hilda Davis of Quincy, IL; three sisters-in-law, Esta Mae Nelson, Mildred Nelson, both of Memphis, MO, and Mabel Jane Ellis of Southern Pines, NC, plus several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Anabel Boyer. Reva is also survived by her loving cat, Julie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.

Reva was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She will be missed by many.

The family has suggested memorials to the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Funeral services were held September 3, 2002, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO with Pastor David Hartsfield officiating. Body bearers were J.D. Nelson, Bill Nelson, Hollis Boyer, Larry Daggs, Richard Stevenson, and Kenneth Eggleston. Musicians were Ann Luther organist, and Joe Fulk, soloist. Interment was in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, in Scotland County, MO. Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, was in charge of arrangements.
