Cullie D. Lancaster, 81, of Kansas City, MO, died July 1, 2002, at his home.

He was the last surviving child of Orville and Celia Corwin Lancaster. Cullie was born in Scotland County, MO on June 10, 1921.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Medical NCO and was honorably discharged in 1945. Cullie saw action at Normandy, Northland France, Ardennes, Central Europe and Rhineland. For his service he earned five bronze stars and was entitled to wear the American-Theatre Campaign Ribbon, the European-African Middle-Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon and three Overseas Bars.

He was a Charter and Lifetime member of the VFW Post 4958.

Cullie worked as a core maker and retired from Fairbanks and Morse after 30 years of employment.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold, Hollis, Denzil, Dale and Basil; and sisters, Florence Newcomer and Zella Stothard.

He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Clara Lancaster of Memphis, MO, and Alice Lancaster of Marshalltown, IA; nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.

Graveside services were held at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Kansas, with the VA Chaplain officiating, July 5, 2002. Skradski Funeral Home, Kansas City, KS was in charge of arrangements.
