LORENE ELLEN SKINNER

Lorene Ellen Skinner, 80, of Memphis, MO, passed away May 26, 2002, at the Scotland County Care Center, Memphis, MO.
She was born June 6, 1921, the eldest daughter of Manly Arlow and Cleoan Ann Allensworth Golden, on a farm in Knox County, MO.
She attended Brick School for eight years and graduated from Rutledge High School, Rutledge, MO as Salutatorian of her class on May 19, 1939.
She worked at Schaffer Pen Company for three years in Ft. Madison, IA.
On January 24, 1943, she married Oscar Skinner of Amboy, IL, at the First Baptist Church in Rutledge, MO, by Rev. B.E. Lett. To this union three children were born, Terry Ann, Karen Sue, and Kevin Ray.
After Oscar returned from Service they moved to Memphis, MO. Lorene worked for J.C. Penney. In 1968 they moved to Hannibal, MO, where their jobs took them. After they both retired from their jobs in 1981, Oscar from Highway Department and Lorene from J.C. Penney they moved back to Memphis in 1983.
Lorene was a member of Four-Corner Club and taught Sunday School at The First Baptist Church for 13 years. She joined Harmony Grove Church at age 13 and still is a member. She loved helping people and dearly loved, her family, children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She made quilts, crocheted and embroidered, was a collector of lamps, plates, tins and had over 100 dolls.
Survivors are: Terry Ann Robinson and husband, Richard of Laurie, MO, Karen Sue Hauptmann and Kevin Ray Skinner and wife, Teresa, all of Memphis. MO; eight grandchildren, Rann and Terri Robinson of Lee's Summitt, MO, Ty and Jennifer Robinson of Independence, MO, Brad and Carrie Hauptmann of Raymore, MO, Buffey Hauptmann of Milwaukee, WI, Bobbi Hauptmann of Columbia, MO, Josh and Carolyn Hauptmann of Joplin, MO, Amber Skinner and Toren Skinner of Memphis, MO; five great-grandchildren, Haley and Hannah Robinson, Cash and Parker Hauptmann and Jace Robinson; three brothers, Shelton Golden and wife, Madeline of Rutledge, MO, George Golden and wife, Maxine of Edina, MO, and Carl Dean Golden of Novelty, MO; one sister, Mareta Riebel and husband, Roger M. of Arbela, MO; two sisters-in-law, Anita Golden of Harrisonville, MO and Betty Jo Golden of Baring, MO; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar in 1992; son-in-law, John Haupt-mann, in 1989; and grandson, Kory Robinson in 1995 and two brothers.
The family has suggested memorials to the Scotland County Care Center, Activities Depart-ment.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at 1:30 p.m., at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO with Rev. Charles Hammack, officiating. Body bearers will be Shelt Golden, Toren Skinner, Brad Hauptmann, Ty Robinson, and Josh Hauptmann. Honorary bearers will be Richard Schuster, Roger M. Riebel, and Mack Ketchum. Interment will be in the Harmony Grove Cemetery in rural Knox County, MO.
