PAUL ARTHUR GRANT

Paul Arthur Grant, 81, of Edina, MO, passed away April 28, 2002.
Paul was born at home on June 27, 1920, in Cuba, MO, the son of Sara Sophia Thompsen Grant and William Henry Grant. His father had passed away prior to his birth. He was the youngest of three brothers and two sisters.
In his early years, he spent time in several different areas in the Midwest. He began his childhood in Missouri and then soon after moved to a farm in South Dakota. After the family farm was lost they moved to Nebraska where he attended school. Omaha then became his home until he moved back to Missouri in 1981. He came full circle and was back where he began.
He served over eight years in the U.S. Army, which included World War II, as a Staff Sergeant and was responsible for the repair and maintenance of all the division radios and the mine detectors.
Using his experience in electronics he began his own business in Omaha, NE in 1948. He operated City Wide Radio and TV successfully for over 35 years.
Paul spent his free time building and restoring antique cars, playing cards, building and flying radio controlled planes, working with his computer and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah of Edina, MO; three children, Marlene Lund of Omaha, NE, Karen Grant of Minnesota, and Paul Jr. of Papillion, NE; five step-children, Judy Hamilin of Edina, MO, Patti Klocke of Edina, MO, Billie Lou Johnson of Perry, IL, Craig Mauck of Knox City, MO and Eileen Miller of Knox City, MO. There are 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; and 18 step-great-grandchildren; one brother, David C. Grant of Pennsylvania.
Preceding him in death were his wives, Marcella Jurgensmier Grant, Helen Myers Grant, and three children, Marcia Blowers, Dale Grant and David Grant.
Funeral services were held May 2, 2002, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with Rev. Luke Turnbourgh officiating. Musicians were Carol Hayes, organist and Sandra Browning and Brenton Karhoff, vocalists. Honorary bearers were Vic Orf, Bill Atwater, Vernon Yoder, Vern Bullock, John Matlock, Elmer Sellers, Myron Shepard, Clark Mustoe, and John M. Frederick. His remains were cremated. Arrangements were handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
