Martha Ann Fleshman, 68, of Wyaconda, MO, passed away April 9, 2002, in the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

The daughter of Fred Henry and Rachel Oertel, she was born on September 30, 1933, in Keokuk, IA.

She was a graduate of Keokuk High School.

On August 17, 1957, she was married to Harold Fleshman in the St. Paul Evangelical Church in Keokuk, IA, where she had been an active member of the church choir. Martha was a homemaker, but led a very active life.

Martha was an Avon consultant for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and handiwork, such as embroidery and crochet.

Martha served as secretary for the Royal Neighbors of America and had been the chairman for the Wyaconda Bloodmobile for many years. She was a member of the Wyaconda Christian Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Fleshman of Wyaconda, MO; two brothers, Tom Oertel and his wife, Sigrid of Iowa City, IA, and Frank Oertel and his wife, Beverly of Peaksville, MO; a sister, Susan Betts of Keokuk, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on April 12, 2002, in the Wyaconda Christian Church in Wyaconda, MO, with Pastors Herb Doty and Shawn McAfee officiating. Special music was provided by Phyllis Hutchinson, organist, and Shawn McAfee, Herb Doty, and Shawn Doty, vocalists. Serving as pallbearers were Joe B. Humes, Robert Lipper, Bennie Scott, Frank Oertel, Tom Oertel, and Brad Kirchner. Interment was in the Wyaconda Cemetery, Wyaconda, MO. Memorials have been suggested to the Wyaconda Christian Church Roofing Fund. Arrangements were handled by Gerth Funeral Service from their Wyaconda, MO chapel.
